SW2 Goes the extra mile
Come on this 2-hour walk and discover stories about ordinary people who made extraordinary efforts to change the lives of others. A magistrate and MP, who campaigned vigorously to end the prison treadmill; a music hall star who supported poor working people on stage and off; a car owner whose help to a fellow driver, led to becoming the luxury car provider to the royal family.
Some actions made a difference to others in the wider world. An abolitionist minister whose actions to end slavery led to crucial evidence in Parliament; an influential designer, the first to design mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes; and a female journalist whose descriptions of the Nuremberg Trials showed how humanity itself was at stake.
Some buildings have been demolished but the stories still exist. Discover SW2 Goes the extra mile.
Meeting / Ending Point: Crown & Sceptre Pub, 2a Streatham Hill, London SW2 4AH
