Irish Stories South of the River

Discover historic Irish events and figures on a friendly walking tour through the South London streets where these stories come alive!

Why did so many Irish people come to London and in particular, south of the river? We’ll hear of their stories and struggles but also achievements against the odds and their significant contribution to London life.

There’s Bessie, the beloved and famed Music Hall star, also the visionary post office workers who were instrumental in the fight for Irish Independence. We’ll hear of the Corkman who became a leader of the Chartist movement and the many 2nd generation Irish who topped the 1980s pop charts including visiting the street where one of their videos was shot!

I’m a qualified Lambeth Tour Guide and passionate about all things London & Irish especially how they intertwine. I return regularly to my home county Limerick for hurling games and as part of the Rose Fitzgerald weekend committee.

So, come join me on this walking tour starting at the iconic St George’s Cathedral and ending in the equally historic Kennington Park! ☘️
