Lambeth Tour Guides Association is pleased to announce the publication of Inspirational Women of Lambeth. This book does what it says in the title – tell the reader of 130 inspirational women who have left their mark on Lambeth over the past 800 years.
It brings together information on women whose lives should be celebrated in Lambeth and beyond. Some will be unfamiliar to readers, others, like Adele, will be well known to many worldwide. The reader is given a glimpse of mountaineers, artists, architects, actors, politicians, doctors, nurses, novelists, theatre directors and campaigners – women, all of whom have either lived, loved, studied, worked or have been buried in Lambeth. The authors hope that it will be a useful resource for local historians, residents, schools, tour guides and a catalyst for further research.
The authors, Jenni Bowley, Chris Everett, Jenny Rossiter, and Elaine Wein are qualified London tour guides and in 2021 set up the Lambeth Tour Guides Association and a course to train Lambeth Guides in all aspects of the Borough.
