My name is Barbara and I am an accredited Lambeth and Westminster Guide – I grew up outside London, but arrived in the big smoke in the late 1970’s, somewhere I had always wanted to live. Once here, I set about exploring London and it has captured my imagination. Having now worked in housing and planning for many years I am interested in buildings, open spaces and urban design and London’s neighbourhoods with their great history, and most importantly, the people and the events which have brought these neighbourhoods to life.

You would come away from my walks I hope feeling you understand places better as I try to uncover why things are as they are and create a sense of surprise and fun when new insights are discovered. For a number of years, I campaigning for better services to my local park, Streatham Common, and the Rookery walled garden then being chair of the Friends of Streatham Common and apart from Lambeth walks my walks cover among other areas, various neighbourhoods just over the Thames from Lambeth in Westminster.
